Essential oils may be a good fit in your life!!
According to the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy, an essential oil is defined as “a product made by distillation with either water or steam or by mechanical processing of citrus rinds or by dry distillation of natural materials. Following the distillation, the essential oil is physically separated from the water phase.”
Essential oil uses range from aromatherapy, household cleaning products, personal beauty care and natural medicine treatments. With so many different benefits coming from small bottles, it’s no wonder why you can find essential oils in so many different places. However, it’s important to note that not all essential oils are created equal. In fact, there are many companies out there who manufacture the oils, slap a “pure” label on it, and sell it to whomever will buy it, when in fact, there are more chemicals in the small bottle then actual essential oil. This means it’s important to know WHICH oil brands actually have the best interest of the consumer in mind, and which brands are just looking to make a quick buck.
There are questions you can ask yourself to make sure that you are finding the best essential oils for your family. There are a couple of questions I asked myself before I started down the essential oil path:
Is the price too good to be true?
For me this is always a red flag. As a consumer, I’m willing to pay a bit more for a higher-quality product. I don’t like added chemicals and additives, and I know it takes more to produce products without them – thus a higher sticker price.
Are they safe for my family?
You have to be confident in what you are using. For me, this confidence only came about once I started trying the oils and other products, and doing my research. With the right knowledge, most of these oils are safe to use from the youngest members of your family, to the oldest. Where do the oils come from?
Just like many big companies use mass production/farming of products, some essential oil companies do the same. This means growing the raw materials in one big location to make it easier, and cheaper to harvest. However, I believe that the raw materials are better when they are sourced naturally. This is why it is important for me to know where the materials are coming from – if lavender grows best in France, or cypress grows best in Greece, why not pull the materials from there, pay a little more, and know that they are being grown naturally?
It’s important to find products and a company you believe in, whatever your reasons may be. That being said, if you are ready to start implementing 100% pure, tested, therapeutic essential oils into your home, click here.
